It was the debut of Priyanka Chopra before entered Bollywood. Actor Vijay has also starred in a movie with Priyanka Chopra in 2002.
He gave a series of hit movies and won Tamil Nadu State Film Award, Best Actor Award for Kadhalukku Mariyadhai and Thulladha Manamum Thullum. Movies in which he had lead roles are Deva, Rajavin Parvaiyile, Vishnu, Chandralekha, and Coimbatore Mappillai, etc. In 1994, his movie Rasigan was released in which Vijay was credited with the name Ilaya Thalapathy which means a young commander.
